Problem

A Fortune 500 chemical manufacturing client and long-term client of Industrial Security Service was seeking a national guard contract, similar to many of their large corporate counterparts, hoping to gain better pricing and reduce contract management issues. While many of the plants were unhappy with this approach, the mandate to pursue a national preferred vendor contract was directed from senior management and purchasing.

Despite continued high marks from the client for dependable, reliable and consistent service, Industrial Security Service’s regional emphasis did not allow us to participate in the bid process.

Resolution

Ultimately, a national provider was selected and the transition process began across the country converting from regional contracts to a new, national contract for security services. As the company converted to the new national provider their operations in Ohio remained under the protection of Industrial Security Service.

Result

As these conversions took place, the savings and the ease of doing business that the customer expected did not materialize. Since implementing the national contract, many of the plants expressed frustration with the lack of communication and inconsistent service provided by the national company. As a result, the customer re-thought the buying decision and now contracts with the best service in each regional market. Industrial Security Service now handles 9 plants in 3 states.
