High Rise Security

Security for high rise and vertical environments is a delicate balance

People coming and going, the continual up and down of the elevator, the whizzing of the revolving doors … lunch time at another office building. With so many on the move, proper access control and security are critical for worker’s safety. Uncontrolled access puts both tenants, visitors, and the building itself at risk.

Andrea Pierce, VP Quality and Compliance

2009, Orlando FL office building;
A tenant’s former employee, entered the building shooting 5 people and killing another. Jason Rodriguez who had been terminated from his job back in 2007 and allegedly felt that his former employer had left him to rot.

Scenes of chaos, blood and death. Workers left two Atlanta office buildings where a day trader apparently shot nine people to death yesterday and wounded seven others.

The public presence of readily identifiable, professional security personnel shapes your tenant's opinion of building management. Behind the scenes vigilance to the myriad of challenges of securing both the people and the mechanical operation of a vertical environment requires a committed, experienced security team.

Industrial Security Service invests the time and resources to determine your specific security requirements. Our approach to high rise security is proactive and is custom designed with procedures and policies to ensure consistent adherence to your security plan. We want to make certain that your tenants are safe within the spaces they occupy. Security personnel undergo training programs, modeled after BOMA International requirements, to ensure a high level of service.

"Two of the biggest security improvements since Sept. 11 — an increased partnership between private security and local law enforcement, and well-researched evacuation plans — don't have anything to do with technology", said Ron Vukas, executive vice president of the Building Owners and Management Association Chicago, which represents more than 90% of commercial properties in the city.

Quality is a Culture

Our customers consistently tell us that ISS is a reliable, dependable partner. They tell us that across geographic areas and industry types. Our ISO certification plays a big role in delivering these results.

ISO helps us maintain detailed procedures for all of our processes, down to the customer and security officer level. This includes the hiring and training of new officers and the detailed development of post procedures. We monitor all of this through key performance indicators and constant auditing. The ISS management team gets together monthly to review the status of our quality system and to make corrections and improvements on a continuous basis.

security officers are only as good as their training
ISS’ decision to attain ISO 9001 certification marked a milestone in the company’s history. The story continues to evolve. The more we work within the system, the more we learn, and the better the results become. ISO has become our operational culture, meaning quality is our culture. Our quality program improves the company’s efficiency and enhances the experience of our customers and our security officers. The program helps us integrate our customers’ needs with our onsite security team's procedures and performance. This ensures our support for that effort each and every day. ISO 9001 has proven to be a powerful tool for providing quality service and achieving high customer satisfaction.

Alert Officer Stops Theft

Security Officer Joseph Cinquina was returning from an extensive internal patrol at a large manufacturing facility on December 26th, when he realized something just wasn’t right. With seven (7) years of experience at this plant located in a suburb of Cincinnati, he instinctively knew there was something missing.

Upon investigating, Joe not only identified what was out of place, he spotted a would-be thief inside of the plant that he was protecting!

Officer Cinquina followed Post Order instructions to the letter and immediately contacted 911 and local authorities, as well as a sequence of Client and I.S.S. management representatives. The police arrived in minutes and it was discovered that a number of valuable items had been carefully staged for removal through a rear access point. There was no question that his diligence and quick action prevented significant loss for our client.

As a result of this incident, the client has taken additional steps to better secure the property.

The Hawk Program

Based on the recommendations of Site Supervisor James Heller, Operations Manager Adam Smith proudly selected Officer Joseph Cinquina as our Cincinnati Branch Officer of the Month!
